Biography

I was first elected as a Parish Councilor in 2011 and attended my first Parish Council meeting on 4th May 2011. I would like to say that I was motivated to stand for office as a result of an altruistic desire on my part to serve the local community in which I live.

The truth of the matter is I was ‘‘persuaded’’ by the outgoing Chairman who wished to stand down, that is was the right thing to do if our community wished to retain its own Parish Council. I have remained in office ever since and currently hold the position of Chairman.

Serving as a Parish Councilor is a great way to meet your neighbours and learn what issues are important to them.

A highlight has been being part of the Council that brought the community together to protect the area from National Grid's plan to erect overground pylons throughout the Lox Yoe valley area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

 Biography

I am currently enjoying the slower pace of Loxton life following a 50 plus year career as a studio and touring drummer.

A pleasant surprise came my way recently when asked to consider becoming a Parish Councillor and I sincerely hope my duties can be dispatched with aplomb.

Biography

I moved to the village about 6 years ago. Shortly after I moved here there was a vacancy for a parish councillor, being new I thought this would be a great way to get to know other villagers. I wanted to be a part of the community and not just a resident and thought a PC member would be a great way to get involved.

Biography

I have lived in Loxton for over forty years and can remember when three different herds of cows came through the village twice daily. I can also remember when we had a weekly bus service to Weston and a post office. I have been a Loxton Parish Councillor since May 2015. I do my best to attend as many village functions as possible and attend the monthly village lunches in Loxton village hall where I am a regular washer-up. I monitor the parish acre on behalf of the council and am custodian of the villages’ photograph library which contains photos dating back to Victorian times, and which locals are welcome to borrow on request.

As a bellringer I am steeple keeper for St Andrew’s, our beautiful village church, which has two of the oldest bells in Somerset dating from the mid 14th century. I am also the village’s correspondent for the Crook Peak parishes’ Contact magazine. I am a trustee of the Frankie Howerd OBE Trust which is currently working to convert the old blacksmith’s shop in the village into a community hub and shop after planning permission was gained by the Parish Council.
